Below is information about our staff, including a link to our role statements and responsibilities with Aranda Afters.
Education Leader and Assistant Director – Leon Mason
“I began working in Out of School Hours Care in 2012 and have since then thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities to provide guidance and support to learning and well being as an Educational Leader, as well as be inspired by the creativity shown by students that we work with each day.
What brought me to Aranda Afters was the excitement to build successful, supportive and collaborative relationships with our students and families and the opportunity to support the learning and development of a strong and enthusiastic Educator Team.”
Program Coordinator – Sam Hoppitt
“I first joined childcare in 2010 and then became an Aranda team member in 2013. After a year long absence in London I am excited to be part of such an amazing team again.
Coming back as a Program Coordinator has got me excited about building a fun new program that incorporates inclusion, enjoyment and education =)”
Program Coordinator – Brooke Jarman“I’ve been working in Childcare since 2014 where I began in Early Childcare centres and I have a Diploma of Education and Care from Optimum Training Services.
I look forward to expanding my skill set with an older group of children while building positive relationships with our children, families and community.”
Our three most recent Staff Stars are displayed here!
Shavaun Hickman – Term 4 2019
Our new Staff Star goes to one of our newest educators, Shavaun! Shavaun has come into the role with an unending positive attitude, and makes each day even more fun! Shavaun can be found on floor actively engaging with children at the service, always with a smile and a funny story to tell! Shavaun succeeds in making the afternoon fun for all children, and will go out of her way to make sure that someone is getting the most out of their time with us. We can’t wait to keep having such a great time with Shavaun at Afters, great job mate!
Elizabeth Baldwin – Term 4 2019
Elizabeth is Aranda After’s jack of all trades! If you’ve ever seen our wonderful garden you’ve seen the product of Elizabeth’s hard work at the service. The garden is her brain child and she has continued to make the space a fantastic learning experience for our children. Elizabeth also works behind the scenes in our office to ensure that everything is hopping along smoothly. Our Chill Out Night has been organised by Elizabeth as well as a number of activities that happen around Aranda Afters. Elizabeth is a fantastic on floor educator, and ensures that everyone is being supported and no opportunities for learning are going wasted! Elizabeth is well deserving of the Staff Star.
How long have you worked at Aranda Afters? “Just over a year”
What do you like about working with children? “I enjoy watching kids learn and grow, their curiosity and wonder, and their often unintentional humour”
What’s something interesting about yourself? “I know king fu and can play the trumpet”
Carmel Pham – Term 3 2019
Aranda Afters is just not the same without Carmel. Carmel has been working at the service for almost 16 years, making her our longest serving staff member by a long shot. Carmel does not just provide afternoon tea for our students, Carmal brings kindness, warmth and compassion to our community. No child or staff member gets to walk past Carmel without receiving a smile and wave, making their afternoon just a bit brighter. She empowers our children to be leaders, offering them the opportunity to assist with afternoon tea service and cooking activities. She helps all staff members feel welcome, whether they are brand new or multi-year veterans. Aranda Afters is very lucky to have such a wonderful member of our community and a Staff Star is only a tiny part of the recognition Carmel deserves for her service over many years.
